Under new Rector Professor Jimmy Kalenga, Mapon University pursues excellence through professional education connecting theory and practice. A field visit on Sunday 4 and Monday 5 October 2020 helped future geological engineers apply classroom learning and develop an interest in fieldwork.
Students manually broke rocks to extract minerals and ores. Tourmaline, cassiterite, wolframite and other materials were important discoveries for them.
“Knowledge liberates, discipline elevates”: Mapon University’s administrative and academic leaders work tirelessly to put its motto into practice.
The successful field visit satisfied the students, who renewed their thanks to the Board Chair for his continued support and the quality of their learning conditions. They have returned to Kindu to continue classes.
