Water resource management and wastewater treatment in the DRC: galvanic treatment, results and prospects

Industrial development and population growth increase freshwater use and wastewater volumes. Developing countries face two challenges: meeting growing water demand and treating the resulting wastewater. Discharge into the environment threatens ecosystems and public health, making treatment essential. The DRC is also affected: its average population growth has exceeded 3%, while industry continues to expand. Wastewater generated by urbanisation and industrialisation must be treated as required by Congolese law.
